What Did It Do? The Dareplane consisted of a biplane that flew around a central pylon. The plane was connected to the pylon by a flexible tube. The tube contained a flexible metal cable (something similar to a speedometer cable). This cable was spun by a motor in the pylon. This, in turn, spun the propeller on the plane. The cable and tubing were also used to control the read tail flaps. The pylon was also connected to a controller box. This box was used to adjust the flaps and motor speed. The controller box sat outside the flying circle of the plane. * If you look at the child flying the plane above, I think he is the same one flying the Vertibird. |
